As I write this, the sun is streaming through my window at home and it definitely feels like spring is on its way, if not already here! That's a qualified statement as it looks like we've got a couple of cold, frosty mornings coming up. So we're not getting too excited, as with the mild winter budburst is just around the corner. Over the last month or so, we've been getting the new wines into bottle, finishing off pruning (Bryn's job), pulling out (my job) and wrapping down. Most of the new vines we planted in stage two (2021) have reached the wire and been wrapped down so hopefully we will get some fruit off them in 2024.
I've also been away a little bit on the mainland judging in the Hunter and Yarra Valleys and am in the Mornington Peninsula on Sunday for the Pinot Noir Challenge - just keeping that palate in tip-top shape!
You can read a little bit more about the new wines below, but I'd recommend jumping onto them sooner rather than later as they won't be around for long. If you have been on the Stargazer mailing list for a while, you will know that previously with my new releases I have made a donation to a worthy cause, normally something that has been in the news like the Ukraine crisis or something else close to my heart like the Hobart Women's Shelter.
This year, with every 6-pack sold through my website for the rest of the month, I'll be donating $20 to supporting Yes23, one of the main campaigns committed to getting the Voice Referendum on October 14th across the line. I realise that this may seem like a political choice to some people, but it is something I am very passionate about and one of the joys of having a small business is having the freedom to row in your own direction. But I'd love to hear what you think!
