With the growing season well and truly upon us, Guy, our winegrower and farm manager, has been flat out getting up to speed at Palisander and finding his way around the vineyard as well as the olive grove, sheep, bees (beekeeping course already complete) and chickens.
After a mild August, budburst started as normal in the middle of September, but growth stalled somewhat due to a very cool October. We had a bit of a fright on Saturday 26 October, with temperatures in the early morning down below zero for a few hours, which resulted in some frost damage to sections of the older Riesling and the new Pinot Blanc vines.
Still, I think we will be OK, fingers crossed. No more of those please!
