2024 Kura Shiraz/Pinot Noir

2024 Kura Shiraz/Pinot Noir

As the golden hues of autumn settle over the landscape and the evenings close in and invite a slower pace, there is no better companion for a cozy night in than the 2024 Kura Shiraz/Pinot Noir. This blend pays homage to a classic Hunter Valley style dating back to the mid-20th century, and for this release, we sourced the Shiraz from the north-facing slopes of the Marengo Vineyard in the Coal River Valley, while the Pinot Noir was hand-picked from vines planted in 2004 near Richmond. The wine's fruit profile of black cherries and blackberries, accented by notes of pepper berry and Dutch liquorice, makes it a natural partner for a slow-roasted lamb shoulder with rosemary or a wild mushroom risotto topped with plenty of parmesan.

Once dinner is served, settle into the sofa and pop on an iconic film that matches the wine’s sophisticated yet approachable character. With the long-awaited sequel out any day now, I’ve got ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ with the incomparable Meryl Streep on the cards for a rewatch. Whether you are getting lost in a cinematic masterpiece or simply watching the flames in the fireplace, this is the perfect bottle to fill up your glass as the air turns crisp and the fireplace is lit.
